The entrepreneur (interview FTM)
"Our mission is fairly simple. We make professional image editing accessible to all." Pieter Veenema is the founder of Studio-Online.
A company that carries out image editing for web shops and print campaigns.
This mainly involves product photography: e.g. staff of Studio-Online project the product on a white background without shade and ensure that the image is returned to the customer in the right format.
Veenema used to work for business magazine Quote and noticed that traditional image editing became very expensive. In addition to hardcopies, companies also wanted to be represented online and without a change in budget they opted for quantity rather than quality.
“We can offer this at a low price,” says Veenema. Studio-Online works for magazines such as Quote and Elle and for many retail leaflets. “We do forty percent of everything falling on your doormat.” This month the company launches a new website with a distinction between print and online.
This is because the products are handled differently. The separate price means that web material will be half the price compared to printed matter. “One job earns you more than the other,” Veenema explains. “It's only after a year you find out why that is."
Growth market
Websites in particular are a growth market for the company. Veenema: “In the beginning, they don't need us. Putting ten images online per week is fun, yet if that becomes a hundred, companies no longer manage to organise that.”
And that's where Studio-Online comes into the picture. Or, to put it better, the team of fifty Indian image editors working for the company 24 hours a day in three shifts. Studio-Online trains its staff in-house, teaching them the tricks of the trade.
